We always wanted our own print room because we love printing. It is messy and stressful but can be beautiful.  Life on a silkscreen.

So when we went looking for a building we knew we needed something with a large enough open floor area to accommodate a print table.  About 5 years ago we became aware of a table that had been installed at Tiviot Print Works in Cheshire that was not being used.  The table had been built by the legendary RA Smarts of Macclesfield, pretty much anyone involved in textile printing in the UK will know Magnus and his team.  The table was over 30 meters long, 2 meters wide and came with a carriage to enable full width, one man operational printing.  It was perfect and one of very few of this type in the country.  The problem at that point was that we did not have the space to house it. Fast forward 5 years and we have the space.  The search resumes, we cannot afford a new one - the carriage on the Tiviot table cost over £28K alone – we need to revision one.  I never even thought to contact Tiviot, just presumed their table would be gone, it had been 5 years.  But it wasn’t gone, it was still sitting there, cursing advances in digital technology,  growing more bitter at the foreign invasion taking up the slack, Korean and Jap robots spitting out the fabric at a rate of knots, coming over here, taking our...
